Time For A Change

With the exciting announcement that Stampin' Up will now offer unmounted stamps, still made from red rubber, I am very excited for the change! So excited, I decided to switch my entire stamp collection! True story! I found a bunch of standard CD cases, not the slimline, and I took out the black insert.

I started by placing the stamps in the microwave for about 10 seconds, and I peeled the stamps and the foam from the wood block. This went fairly smoothly. I only lost a few pieces of foam. (I tore them off too quickly.) And now I had a pile of rubber & foam. I then applied a thin layer of Aileen's Tack-It Over & Over to the foam. When it dries, it forms a tacky adhesive, so I can now use my stamps with acrylic blocks.

I removed the stickers from the blocks, and added those to the front of the CD case. Now I have a visual for the stamps.

And I am left with a box of sticky wood blocks.

The best part is, I am gaining all kinds of storage space! Take a look at this: There are eight stamp sets in the CD cases vs. four stamp sets in the plastic clam shells boxes!

I'm going to have so much more room to store MORE stamps! WOOHOO!

Tulips Anyone?

Tulips, tulips, tulips. This is one of my favorite stamp sets! I just love it! Tulips aren't much of a fall flower, but a bit a spring might be a welcome thing in the middle of November!

I stamped the tulips on Whisper White card stock, then I ran the paper through the Sizzix BigKick, with the Sizzix Script folder. You can't see the detail in the picture, but it really does look great. I think the end result made for a great, cheery birthday card.

Lighthouse Fascination

I love my lighthouse stamps. I found this stamp from Sunnyside Stamps. They have a great selection of Michigan lighthouses, and the stamp image is awesome! Great quality stamps! And the service was awesome! The verse is from Stampin Up!

Playing With Masking Tape

I love discovering all the things you can use on a card! I made this card quie some time ago, while sitting at a craft fair that had no traffic! I really liked the card, so I never sent it to anyone. Maybe I should make another one!
I used masking tape to create the background on this card. I tore pieces of masking tape, and randomly placed them on the card stock. Then I used a brayer with Chocolate Chip ink, to create the look of leather. The horse image was colored with Stampin Up markers. And I simply tore the edges of the card stock to give a more rugged look.

I Can Still Remember Summer

Has it really been almost 3 months since my last post? WOW! I guess I was busy enjoying the nice weather while it was here!

I bought the neatest stamps at the Novi Stamp Show. The stamps make shirts and jackets and other cute clothing items. This is made with one of the stamps. The stamp is just the image of the shirst, in three parts. When you fold it, it becomes a "full" shirt. I found this awesome paper at my LSS and I love it! (I'm sorry, but I don't recall the company names.)

I made this shirt to send to Mailboat Records. I was writing to tell them how much I love Ilo Ferreira! I saw him in concert, with Jimmy Buffett, and I really like his music!

I think I got way off topic! Sorry 'bout that!

Cowgirl fun!

Have I mentioned how much I enjoy playing with Copics? I love them! This was the first time I used lighter colors, and I discovered I am using the wrong ink pad for stamping. So, I had to make the journey to Hobby Lobby to purchase the correct ink! I have yet to try it out, but at least I know!

Gruffies & Caffine

This is my new favorite stamp! I love it! And it was so much fun to work with! Not only did I get to play with a new stamp, I was able to use my Copic markers! I swore I wasn't going to buy them, but boy oh boy, do I love them! I added some Crystal Effects to the coffee in the mugs, just for a fun touch.

House Mouse & Guinea

I have become addicted to House Mouse stamps! And thanks to Lorien, I'm now addicted to Copic markers, too! Lorien let me borrow her markers, and I was immediately hooked! I fell in love with this stamp, because the guinea pig is just too cute, and I love guinea pigs!

2009 Michigan Humane Society Mutt March

This Sunday is the semi-annual Michigan Humane Society Mutt March at the Edsel Ford Estate. It's a 5 mile walk to raise money for the Michigan Humane Society. My friend Michelle & her dog Brandy are walking in their 14th walk. (Michelle is also my leader at the shelter.) If you would like to help Michelle raise money for the homeless animals, you can donate here. I can't join them this year, so I made a donation.

Mother's Day

Here's a card I made for Mother's Day. It was pretty simple and I made great use of some scraps. I even pulled out the ol' Marvy scallop punches, which I haven't used in years! I used a Heidi Swapp tool to distress the edges of the paper, but in this photo, it looks like I have a very poor cutting device! Mom liked it, so that's all that matters! The only thing I wish I had done, was add a button to the end of the ribbon. I'll do that next time!

My Little Brother Graduated from Purdue University

I am the proud Big Sister of a Purdue Graduate! My little brother graduated from Purdue last weekend. I wasn't able to attend the ceremony, but they did have a web cast, so I watched it from home. Did I mention I'm a proud big sister.

I offered to make the invites for his grad party, and the end result wasn't even close to my original idea. The following card was my first end result.

After watching the web cast of the graduation ceremony, I realized I wasn't done! The school colors are gold & black, but what I didn't know is each school of study has its own tassel color. The Mechanical Engineering undergrads had orange tassels. I figured I can add something orange; no big deal. I bought a 3" scallop circle punch, but it was way too big for the already completed scallop. I tried to find a circle punch bigger than 2", but that's easier said than done! And in a serendipitous moment, I found I own a Cricut cartridge that cuts circles! How exciting. So, I ran a bunch of orange paper through the Cricut, and I had orange circles! Woohoo!

MY First House Mouse

Yes, I finally have my very first House Mouse stamp, and of course it involves food! I was very intimidated by these stamps. I was fearful of the coloring! I colored this image with Stampin Up markers, and I think it turned out well for my first try! I "painted" the frosting with Stickles just to make it interesting. When I was all done, I took this picture, and then sent this card off to my dear friend Emma! She is a wonderful friend and I am thankful!

What an adventure life can be! The last few months have been crazy, and there has barely been a moment to stamp! And to add to my lack of stamping time, we had a leak in the basement, so I had to disassemble my stamp room. This also meant moving all the Breyer horses off the wall! That was not fun!

When I finally had the room put back together, a story in itself, I made a card! Woohoo!
